steam

im sitting in my mother's studio checking through the window.
the earth, trees, rocks and leaves are releasing steam from their pores,
morning after the storm, the day is a crisp apple, juicy
jack absorbs the rays, curled at my feet.
the quiet calms me, as i feel my ears and body take advantage of the green silence.
the silence melts the cramped in head, heart unfolds
open, not closed

i'm busy and stressed out

i'm leaving for LA saturday and need to: finish a paper on narcissism, take jack to the vet and get sedatives for his first flight :-( work with the twins, pack for winter in LA and summer in mendoza, xmas shop. once in LA i want to hang out with 9,000 ppl i haven't seen in a while--im booked.

i feel like i need a sedative...iv'e been going to yoga every day, which is great. yet instead of feeling centered, i feel like a very flexible energizer bunny with general anxiety disorder.

must remember: embrace the present moment, because it is all that exists.

lacy tights

i need to get get some.

pose of the day-dolphin pose

this pose really strengthens the core, upper arms and shoulders. i also love the feeling of being upside down and getting some blood flowing to the HEAD. it feels healthy.

Step by Step provided by: YogaJournal

Come onto the floor on your hands and knees. Set your knees directly below your hips and your forearms on the floor with your shoulders directly above your wrists. Firmly press your palms together and your forearms into the floor.

Curl your toes under, then exhale and lift your knees away from the floor. At first keep the knees slightly bent and the heels lifted away from the floor. Lengthen your tailbone away from the back of your pelvis and press it lightly toward the pubis. Against this resistance, lift the sitting bones toward the ceiling, and from your inner ankles draw the inner legs up into the groins.

Continue to press the forearms actively into the floor. Firm your shoulder blades against your back, then widen them away from the spine and draw them toward the tailbone. Hold your head between the upper arms; don't let it hang or press heavily against the floor.

You can straighten your knees if you like, but if your upper back rounds it's best to keep them bent. Continue to lengthen your tailbone away from the pelvis and lift the top of your sternum away from the floor.

***think downward dog on your forearms.

hold it.

taurus doesn't like change

i don't like moving, big changes or chaotic situations. i avoid them. im doing it again. im postponing the move until i get back from south america in january. i have good reason! nothing amazing popped up and school/life will be more mellow around then. as much as i avoid instability, i thoroughly enjoy traveling and the gypsy lifestyle.

during my trip to mendoza i'm going to learn some delicous things about our malbec and cabernet- don juan nahuel. upon my return i'm going to napa for a 5 day workshop where i will learn to taste and talk vino.
and....study primary fermentation, malolactic fermentation, sur lie aging, barrel aging, bottle aging, trellising, canopy management, clones, and rootstock. examine wines from California, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and North and South America. understand the impact that key enological and viticultural decisions and techniques have on the flavors and style of a wine.

any ideas on how i can combine my love for wine with psychology, buddhism and yoga?

im staying in tonight so i can tackle jessica benjamin's theory of intersubjectivity and have a bubbles bath. this is my first winter in SF, and it's damn cold. im getting used to it, slowly. the veggie soup i made on thursday is even more delicious today. slurp.

oh and here is a picture of Jack trying to find a good track to play. i think he's looking for the fela kuti record.

love you.

Thought for the day: Abraham-Hicks

Say yes to whatever it is. Because if you say yes to it and then you get in
the middle of it, and you say, "Uh oh, this isn't really turning out the
way I wanted it to," then out of that is born another desire. And as you
say yes to that, then it turns out. And you say, "Well, it's still not
quite right." So you have another desire... Until eventually you get it
exactly right. You cannot get it wrong. No creation is ever complete. Just
do it.
